Please note! Course description is confirmed for two academic years, which means that in general, e.g. Learning outcomes, assessment methods and key content stays unchanged. However, via course syllabus, it is possible to specify or change the course execution in each realization of the course, such as how the contact sessions are organized, assessment methods weighted or materials used.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

After this course the students will be familiar

  1. the basics of many electron quantum mechanics and the Hartree-Fock (HF) method
  2. how such problems are solved numerically and the concept of basis set
  3. quantum chemical modelling beyond the HF method. These include the MP2, Coupled Cluster and Density Functional methods
  4. quantum chemical modelling of molecules, solid systems and surfaces
  5. how to model chemical reactions. The NEB method and thermodynamical integration
  6. ab initio molecular dynamics and time dependent DFT.
