Relationships essay
The purpose of the essay
The purpose of the relationships essay is to report and reflect on the five personal discussions. For this essay you will need to conduct five personal discussions with peers from the course. For each discussion there is a particular reading and/or video material to discuss, and for each discussion you should organise a different discussion partner.
Thus for every discussion you need to:
- read and/or watch the assigned material for the discussion session
- organise a 1-2h personal discussions with a peer student
At the beginning of each discussion agree on the type of discussion you want to conduct (expectations, roles, format…). You might want to have a casual discussion, a mentoring discussion, a coaching discussion and the like. (use google if you cannot think of different types of discussions)
The themes of the five discussions are:

- Ed Schein: dialogue and humble inquiry
- Amy Edmondson: psychological safety and teaming
- Steve Jobs: The lost interview
- Steve Jobs: Stanford commencement speech

General instructions regarding the form and the length of the essay
- The suggested length of the whole essay is about 5 pages.
- Write your name, student number, and contact information on the first page. Use a basic font and font size (e.g. Calibri, 11 pt); line spacing 1-1,2; basic margins (e.g. 2,54 cm all).

The essay is graded Pass/Fail based on the following criteria:
- The essay shows critical thinking by putting the views and insights into perspective and a wider frame of reference
- The essay considers application of the insights to other contexts and real-life situations
- Overall structure, readability, clarity, appropriate length and depth
- To what extent the essay follows the above mentioned guidelines for length and format
