Assignment 1: Presentation DOs and DON'Ts
As a student, you have surely attended numerous technical or scientific presentations. You have probably attended presentations that truly inspired you or followed speakers who captured the audience’s attention immediately and communicated their message clearly throughout. You have probably also listened to talks the purpose of which did not become clear to you, and seen speakers who have not rehearsed or prepared adequately.
The purpose of this activity is to gather your views on essential DOs and DON’Ts of a presentation. Each student should post at least two tips. Post your tips with your name at the end of the sentence. Example:
- Do not say "so" before each slide. (Laura Mendoza)
Since the document is collaborative, a student can continue the ideas of the previous student or simply add a new idea. In the end, we will get a nice compilation of the views of the students on general presentation skills. Since this is the starting activity of this course, your ideas can still be quite general and founded on your prior experiences only.
