REPORT 2: Topic background
Instructions:
The purpose of this report is to carry out desk research (secondary research) on your topic. Desk research in design projects typically involves finding and gathering information from existing sources, such as published research studies, reports, articles, and other materials. For example, the topics to find out in secondary research in design projects could include
- the design problem or challenge that you are trying to solve (e.g., benchmarking existing solutions or approaches to similar problems)
- to study the target audience or user group for your design (e.g., their needs, preferences, behaviors, and other characteristics that might influence your design decisions).
- investigate your design context (e.g., physical, social, cultural, and other factors that might affect how your design is perceived and used).
- the materials and technologies relevant to your topic.
- relevant design principles, theories, and practices.
- relevant laws, regulations, and standards that might apply to your design.
…at the end it depends on your design project and goals.
Structure and length:
The structure of this report is free. Use purposeful structure and headings that match your project topic. Pay attention to the visual consistency of the report. One way to structure a report is an introduction, method, results, discussion, and conclusion/summary. Include relevant diagrams and tables and remember to use proper citing.
10-15 pages (3500-5500 words).
Remember to add
the Academic ethics: Personal contribution to team deliverables
In a separate, independent document, please indicate your team workload on the deliverable. How did each of you contribute to the deliverable? Who did what and why? Not everyone needs to do the same tasks. You can divide the tasks among the team members. For example, one team member can be responsible for writing one chapter, and one another. Alternatively, one team member can be responsible for creating the content, and one can be responsible for putting it in a written format. You choose. Discuss and divide the workload as equally as possible. Make sure, as a team, that everyone feels comfortable with their workload. A few sentences for each team member is enough.
Note: Your contribution can be stated as “equal contribution” if you prefer so, . This means that everyone contributed equally.
It is enough that only one team member in your team submits the assignment. Remember to write your team members names in the report.
