Topic outline

  • Welcome to the Economics Summer course!

This course is a summer reading package on an economics topic chosen by the student. This course is offered only for the Economics Bachelor and Master students during the summer 2020. The course is suitable as a part of Economics elective studies and it can be completed only once.

    How to complete the course:

Enroll yourself to the course via WebOodi. After deciding on the topic area, contact (by email) the professor in the field of Economics you are interested in and suggest the contents for the reading package. The professor evaluates the reading package and approves it with the programme director.

After reading the pre-approved articles/books, write a learning diary + essay on the material and submit them by email to the professor.

The deadline for submitting the learning diary and essay can be agreed with the professor, however no later than 7.9.2020.

    Assignments - General Guidelines:

The professors can determine the requirements for the assignments based on the reading material.

Essay: in general, the essay should demonstrate your understanding on the reading material. The purpose of the essay is also to reflect your thoughts and ideas and what you have learned from the reading material. There is no set length for the essay; the content is more important than the number of pages. The essay could be for example 8-10 pages.

Learning Diary: the learning diary should describe your work during the course: what you have read and when, and also what you have learned. In brief, the learning diary should help you (and the teacher) to assess your learning process during the course.
