Topic outline

  • The United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals are the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. They address the global challenges we face, including those related to poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, peace and justice. The 17 Goals are all interconnected, and in order to leave no one behind, it is important that we achieve them all by 2030.

The relationship between ICT and sustainability is complex and multifaceted. ICT sustainability is about ensuring that ICT is designed, manufactured, managed and used in a way that minimizes environmental impact and meets the aims of sustainable development. Virtually every stage of the ICT lifecycle has an impact on the environment in some way and can impact SDG's negatively.

However, ICT and digitalization also have significant positive impact on many SDG's and many goal cannot be reached without extensive use of ICT tecnologies.

In this seminar, view will review current state of the art in ICT sustainability and its negative and positive impact on sustainability.
