Mindfulness is a state of open attention on the present. It’s living here and now. Mindfulness involves nonjudgmental conscious awareness of one’s body, feelings, thoughts and surroundings. When doing the practices try to:

  • maintain an open awareness of the present moment
  • observe in a non-judgmental way
  • use beginner's eye

When doing mindfulness practices your mind will wander and every time when you notice that just gently bring your attention back to the present moment.

The practices of the week:

Why to practice mindfulness if you want to improve your interaction skills?

We often make lots of interpretations when interacting with other people. When someone is quiet he must be a shy person. Or when your friend looks angry he is angry at you. Or could there be other interpretations? We make the interpretations very quickly and often automatically. Usually we don't notice that our interpretations are not the same as our observations. We assume that the interpretation is the truth. Being aware of our observations and interpretations helps us to really listen and trying to understand the other person's perspective.

Mindfulness practices develop our awareness of our emotions. When we are aware of our emotions it becomes easier to be aware other's emotions. Awareness of emotions helps us to show compassion and deepen our interaction.
