Content

The students are introduced to a special area in costume design. The content of the course may vary in different years and addresses the theory and practice of costume in an advanced level.

Title: MA Makeup & Costume Design: Character
Workshop.Lecturer: Sarah Bowen-Walsh, MA. Costume,
Makeup & Production Designer.Course Language: Lectures & material demos will
be in English, but its also possible to get learning support in the workshop in
FinnishCourse Content: This will be an introduction to
Makeup Artistry for character development and an exploration of the partnership
of makeup and costume design in this process. In this 3 day workshop we will
have an opening lecture introducing the course topic with film references and
during the course there will be a selection of demos introducing makeup
materials and the various techniques involved in their application. During the
workshop students will have the opportunity to explore makeup materials and
test out their applications, and to develop their own characters combining
costume and makeup which they will complete and then present on the afternoon
of the final day of the course.Type of work involved: Introductory lecture,
practical demos, students will complete own practical research.

Students' development during the course, motivation, attendance and active participation in discussions, independent work and completion of assignments.
