Please note! Course description is confirmed for two academic years (1.8.2018-31.7.2020), which means that in general, e.g. Learning outcomes, assessment methods and key content stays unchanged. However, via course syllabus, it is possible to specify or change the course execution in each realization of the course, such as how the contact sessions are organized, assessment methods weighted or materials used.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The course has changing topics every year. upon completion of the course the studens:

Harmonics in electrical machines: understand to origin of harmonics in electrical machines; be able to model the inteaction between different harmonics; design an electrical machines based on the harmonic analysis.

Vibrations, noise and rotor dynamics: understand the origin of noise and vibration in electrical machines; be able to analyse numerically and analytically the vibrations of the machines; understand the problematic of rotor dynamics and be able to model it.

Thermal analysis: undesrtand the origine of heat in electrical machines and the related cooling problematic; undestrand the physics of heat exchange; make thermal models of an electrical machines; design the cooling system of an electrical machines.
