LEARNING OUTCOMES
After completion of the course the participants have gained an understanding of some of the central textual references, concepts and contexts concerning space, site and situation, and will be able to apply, analyze, and develop new perspectives in their artistic work and research-oriented activities in those areas of artistic activity, where space and spatial practices are in a central role.

Content

The reading circle attendants navigate through a selection of texts that approach space and place from the perspective of spatial practices, spatial arts and performative space, as well as some of the key theories and contextualizations where space, place, site and spatiality play a significant role. The connection between the texts and the participants’ own artistic thinking and ongoing projects are analyzed and discussed further from the viewpoint of space as a theatrical medium and scenographic expression, and as an agency of spatial dramaturgy.

Hann:in kirjasta Beyond Scenography. Pohdimme kirjan teemojen kautta
skenografian olemusta, ilmenemismuotoja sekä yhteisen tekijyyden ajatusta
nykyteatterin ja esittävän taiteen suunnittelun kontekstissa.Opiskelijat lukevat jokaiselle kerralle valitun tekstin,
joista keskustellaan yhdessä. Opiskelijat tekevät lyhyen alustuksen lukemastaan
tekstistä annettujen ohjeiden mukaan. Ohjeet alustukseen annetaan
lukumateriaalin yhteydessä.
Assessment Methods and Criteria

Active participation. Comprehension of texts and the ability to link the texts discussed in relation to one's own artistic thinking / projects.
Workload
Valid 01.08.2020-31.07.2022:
Meetings,critical reading and peer discussions. Familiarizing oneself to the given reading material and working through MyCourses. Independent work max 72 h, seminar meetings and discussions 36 h. Students will receive 2 credits / academic year.
