LEARNING OUTCOMES
The aim of the course is to introduce students to the principles and processes of modern furniture design.
The course introduces and allows students to practice the presentation methods, tools and work forms used in furniture design. Students become familiar with modern furniture types and the basic structures, materials and shapes used in them. Another objective is to master the three dimensional composition in architectural and human scale that is essential to furniture design.

CONTENT, ASSESSMENT AND WORKLOAD
Content

During the course students design, visualize and create a piece of furniture in scale 1:1.
Applies in this implementation:
Course assignment will be given in the beginning of the course.
Materials used during the course are based on the machinery and working possibilities that the university workshops provide.
Assessment Methods and Criteria
Valid 01.08.2020-31.07.2022:
For passing the course, the student has to participate in lectures and group activity (80%) and present the final artefact. Evaluation criteria: activity during the course, the creative process, quality of the final artefact.
Applies in this implementation:
Course will be evaluated based on students response to the given briefing and assignment. Participation in tutoring sessions, design process documentation and presentation of the results. Students are expected to document their working process and research.
