After the course, participants should have
- Strengthened their proficiency in established and contemporary concepts, theories, and tools in strategic management of technology and innovation and their ability to apply those in real life,

CONTENT, ASSESSMENT AND WORKLOAD
Content

As the name states, the course is about strategic management of technology and innovation. It is not about individual technologies as such and takes a broad perspective to technology beyond digitalisation, including, for example, nano, health, and energy technologies. Regarding innovation, course not only covers the ways how firms can profit and capture value, but also explores the concept of open innovation and ways of leveraging external sources. Relatedly, platform economy and its implications to strategic management of technology and innovation are studied extensively. Finally, while the dominating perspective on the course is the performance of a firm, the societal aspect and impacts for sustainability form an important part of the course.

Assessment Methods and Criteria

Exams or assignments.

Course can be done by either completing home exercises for each four modules (every three weeks) or taking an exam. In addition course contains mandatory pre-readings with quizzes for each module.
Grade (1-5) is calculated based on the following components:- Pre-readings (quizzes): 15%, and
- Either
- Exam: 85%, or
- Home exercise for M1-M4: 4*20% = 80% + Compilation of final report 5%
Workload

The total workload is 135 hours: Contact teaching 30 percent (all lectures during periods III & IV), preparation for assignments or for the examination and reflection 70 percent.
