LEARNING OUTCOMES
After successfully completing this course, students should be able to design woven fabrics with advanced jacquard structures, such as different multi-layered and double faced structures, for industrial production. Students should be able to design usable woven fabrics and evaluate their design decisions in the light of sustainable production. The more credits they complete, the broader and deeper their knowledge of the subject should be.

CONTENT, ASSESSMENT AND WORKLOAD
Content

Learning activities: Lectures, demostrations, group and individual tutorials, group meetings and critic session on the last contact teaching day
Design assignment: Students design a collection of woven fabrics, which can include patterned jacquards as well as plains and textures, and realize it in weaving workshop and on industrial machine. Technical details of each fabric should be documented in product cards, and one copy of each product card with a small sample of fabric should be given for weaving workshop archieves. Students decide the focus of their collection according to their own projects and interests. In addition to samples, students have the possibility to produce bigger pieces of fabric for their project.

Evaluation criteria for design assignment: understanding, documentation and creative use of woven structures and materials, creativity of the design, the usability of the fabrics in their intended use, artistic expression, coordination of the collection

lectures and tutorials: 28h for all students, 80% attendance required
group meetings and tutorials: 5h - 15h depending on the number of credits, 80% attendance required

self-guided activities: 15h - 195h depending on the number of credits
students have the possibility to meet teacher for individual tutoring for 0,5h-3h: 50h of teacher´s work
Note: If student is participating on the course for second time, they do not need to participate on lectures.

1) Students from Fashion, Clothing and Textile Design (MA) and Fashion and Design majors (BA) who have the course in their personal study plan and who need it to be able to work on their thesis project or other relevant project related to woven fabrics.
2) Textiles - Material and Structure - minor students who have the course in their personal study plan (after taking Woven Fabrics Studio - course)
3) Exchange students in Fashion or Design (after taking Woven Fabrics Studio - course)
4) Other participants according to the relevance of their projects
Participation is confirmed by the student´s presence on the first lecture.
Course plan as a pre-assigment should be submitted via email to responsible teacher at the same time with registration.
TC-2 and dobby looms in Weaving workhsop as well as the industrial weaving machine are reserved for this course during periods III-V, so all students working on a project including design and production of woven fabrics during that time, must participate on the course.
