LEARNING OUTCOMES
- Understand the main concepts of continuum mechanics: material (Lagrange) and spatial (Euler) representations, transition and velocity fields
- Understand deformation and stress state concepts and mathematical representations: deformation and deformation speed sensor, traction and stress tensor
- Understand the concepts and mathematical representations of the continuum equilibrium and balance equations: mass conservation, momentum and momentum balances, energy balance
- Is familiar with the basic concepts of constitutive modeling of the continuum and basic solid-liquid thermomechanical models
- Understand how to mathematically describe the behavior of materials in engineering using the principles of continuum mechanics
