LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • You will achieve an overall picture of the course content and objectives.
  • You will gain a better understanding of the need to learn to write research funding proposals.
  • You will become familiar with basic strategic principles on how to strengthen your skills in grant writing in the academic context.
  • After this module, you will have an understanding of the research funding system, especially in Finland.
  • You will be aware of and be able to identify different types of research funding opportunities.
  • You will become familiar with some relevant research funding foundations in your research field.
  • You will be able to clarify the implementation of your funding proposal from a research funding agency's point of view.
  • You will be able to identify more precisely the impact of your research for the purposes of research funding agencies.
  • You will be encouraged to visualise the importance of stakeholders as part of your funding proposal.
  • You will be able to identify unclear parts of your abstract from a research funding agency's point of view.
  • You will be able to list the features of a good abstract.
  • You will be aware of how to strengthen your research networking, which will also support your grant writing skills.
  • You will be able to give some examples of the research funding possibilities that require research mobility during the research activities.
  • You will be able to create a draft budget for your research activities, including the travel costs.

Content

    A research funding proposal is an overall process that consists of several elements.

    Their identification helps you to plan your proposal and clarify the timetable for the writing task.

    You can always improve your writing skills, but by going through this course material and completing the given tasks, you can achieve the first milestone in grant writing skills.

    The course will provide you with practical tips and strategies for grant writing.
