On a successful completion of the course, students
- are familiar with various photo books and the solutions used in them.
- have basic understanding of the design and production of a photo publication and are able to apply this information in their own photo publications.
- know the materials used in photographic publications, such as different paper grades and binding styles, and understand how they affect the end result.
- understand the meaning and potential of layout in visual narrative and photo book design .
- are able to design their own photobook, its layout and material choices.

Content

Designing one s own photo publication. Presenting photo publications and analysing them. Discussing content, technical and artistic possibilities and solutions in photo publications. The relationship between image and text, graphic form and funding a photo publication.
Assessment Methods and Criteria
valid for whole curriculum period:
Lectures, assignments, personal tutoring, demonstrations. The accepted performance of the course requires completing the assigned tasks and 80% attendance at course meetings. If a student implements his or her own photo publication, the personal tutoring is possible at the stage of the implementation of the publication.
Workload
valid for whole curriculum period:
Credits can be comprised of the course and designing and/or completing one's own photobook. The course is worth 6 ects, in addition you can get credits for additional independent work.
Contact teaching approx. 30-40 %: lectures, personal tutoring, critique.
Independent working 60-70 %: preparation for the lectures, completing assignments, preparation for critiquesIn case the student is completing a photobook, the credits are evaluated according to the student s workload, so that 1 ects equals to approx. 27 hour s independent work .
