LEARNING OUTCOMES
A student understands profoundly the most common thermodynamic state functions (especially enthalpy of formation and sensible enthalpy, absolute entropy and entropy of formation, chemical potential and Gibbs energy), equilibrium theory (both phase and chemical equilibrium) and thermodynamics of humid air, and can apply them to analyze various applications in energy technology. A student understands basics of exergy analysis and thermodynamics of solutions and can use them for basic calculations. A student knows principle of the corresponding states and an estimate for maximum and minimum work at constant temperature and pressure. A student recognizes the difference between an ideal gas and real gases and the phase rule.
