- identify basic physical properties of light.
- understand principles of optical microscopy and describe light-based imaging techniques
- explain how living organisms utilise light
- use basic mathematical and computational tools to describe light and light matter interaction
- interpret recent developments in optical microscopy and its implications in the fields of biophysics, biomedical imaging etc
