LEARNING OUTCOMES

Students will be able to identify special features of documentary film editing, such as structure, dramaturgy, theme rhythm, etc.

Students will be able to apply documentary editing principles to their film exercises and/or film projects.

CONTENT, ASSESSMENT AND WORKLOAD

Content

  • valid for whole curriculum period:

    An in-depth course exploring the aesthetics of editing. The course might cover questions of film structure, rhythm, story arc, alternative dramaturgy, different ways of presenting time, or the tradition of montage, with varying thematic emphasis. The course will have its own small-scale exercise, which may be related to the students' own film projects.

    Passing the course requires attendance, active participation and the successful completion of the course assignments.

    Lectures (ratio 1:1): 41 hours (max)

    Independent Studies/Workshop (ratio 1:1): 40 hours (máx)
