Content

Working through collaboration in an international project or production organized either in Finland or abroad. Students complete a written and visual report outlining the project, describing their participation and learning experience.

The course involves conceptualising, designing and realising the Finnish exhibit for the student section of Prague Quadrennial 2023 (PQ23) - a major international exhibition of performance design - as a collaboration between the students of the majors of costume design (Aalto ARTS) and students of lighting, sound design and design for the performing arts (Uniarts/VÄL). The course includes visiting the PQ 2023 exhibition in Prague in June 2023.
Students implement the exhibition as a group work during their studies, and attend the Prague Quadrennial PQ23, the 15th edition of the largest international festival of theatre and stage design, which will take place from June 8 to 18, 2023 in Prague. Opening on June 7. Students will do the set up of the exhibition 3 days before the opening.
Assessment Methods and Criteria

The project will be assessed through the student's own goals, creative outcomes, visual documentation and written articulation.
Before starting the project, students negotiate with their own teacher about the participation in the project, the personal learning outcomes, the credits and the schedule of the final report.applies in this implementation
Active participation, contribution to the teamwork, transdisciplinary collaboration and responsibility in completing part of the work are important for completing this course.
Workload

1cp = 27 hours of independent work, co-operation with the other members of the project team, discussions and feedback. The exact study methods depend on the nature of the project.

If our exhibition piece will be a performance/live event, it needs to be communicated to PQ at the end of the February.
PQ23 text material deadline:
End of January, the title of the piece.
End of March, catalogue text about the piece must be done and submitted. One paragraph, poetic and abstract text is okey.
Installation in Prague:
5.6.2023 the installation can start in Prague.
5.6.-6.6.2023 from 8am until 10pm installation of exhibition.
7.6.2023 from 8am until 4.30pm installation of exhibition.
7.6.2023 4.30pm end of the installation. 5pm official visit (president etc).
Opening of the exhibition:
7.6.2023 6pm-midnight official public opening.
