LEARNING OUTCOMES

After succesful completion, student is able to:

  1. Carry out a small video production project by designing, shooting, editing and presenting a short video narrative in a team.
  2. Carry out research for team's video manuscript.
  3. Work in a team with other students, agreeing about the work and share workload through good distribution of roles.
  4. Discuss verbally and visually about design and media culture, and reflect how their own work and aspirations relate to the broader historical and contemporary design and media context.

CONTENT, ASSESSMENT AND WORKLOAD

Content

    In this course, students familiarise themselves with international design and media history, key issues and discourses. The historical changes are studied in relation to the contemporary infused with design and media. Lectures are supplemented with readings and documentaries, which students are expected to explore independently. Students complete and present one team assignment, a video essay, in which they teach other students a pair of design and media concepts assigned to the video production team. Individually each student writes a short reflective paper.

Assessment Methods and Criteria

    Course assignments, participation in teaching.
    Students must attend and actively participate in at least 80% of the contact teachings.
