LEARNING OUTCOMES
- Provides general principles of structural mechanics
- Gain a good qualitative understanding how structures deforms in order to resist the external loading and forced displacements through internal forces balancing such perturbing effects
- Provides the fundamental knowledge to understand, and analyze the mechanical and stability behavior of load-bearing frame structures
- Upon successfully completing this course, the student will understand the limitations of the models, assess their limitations when applied to realistic structures and will be able to give some reliability estimate for the analysis resulting from the application of the models

- Beam models: Euler-Bernoulli s and Timoshenko s beam models
- Mechanics of elastic frames statically determinate and indeterminate structures
- Elastic Stability and geometrically non-linear effects
- Plastic Limit Load Analysis
- Eigen Frequency Analysis (Natural modes)
