The course aims to help you to function effectively in the academic context by focusing on three essential academic skills: academic writing, giving clear and convincing scholarly presentations, and having a strong understanding of the principles and practices of research ethics at Aalto University. Throughout the course, you will also learn how to give and receive constructive feedback on academic work.
In the writing part, we will focus on academic writing skills such as effective argumentation and creating a research space by identifying the background, motivation and focus of your research.
In the presentations part, you will be able to develop yourself as a presenter. You will give several presentations during the course, and through practice learn how to deliver convincing, coherent, and engaging research talks, including job talks.
