LEARNING OUTCOMES

The master students know the major developments, movements and critical approaches in international animation field. The students learn to recognize types of approaches in film analysis and connect them to various film theories. The students will understand different theoretical frameworks and learn to relate them to their own work.

CONTENT, ASSESSMENT AND WORKLOAD

Content

    The students study animation history and theoretical frameworks and analyse a chosen animation.

Assessment Methods and Criteria

    The course is held in participatory lecture format in which the students contribute actively to in-class discussions. They accomplish a combination of tasks designed to explore various aspects of animated films and media. Reading materials, lectures, art, film screenings, discussions.

     

Workload
  • valid for whole curriculum period:

    Contact teaching: 35 h (lectures, demonstrations and tutoring) Student's personal work outside the contact teaching hours: 65 h (includes time for reflection and planning). At least 80% participation in face-to-face teaching is mandatory to complete the course. If, due to absences, the student does not achieve the learning outcomes defined in the course description, the remaining 20% may have to be compensated as determined by the responsible teachers of the course. All absences must be reported to the teachers in charge. The responsible teachers of the course will specify the necessary compensating assignments.
