LEARNING OUTCOMES

The learning objective is to develop the student s skills in doing academic/scientific research, i.e., specifying research goals and questions, searching for and applying academic literature and writing a research report. Each participant selects a sub-topic of marketing that interests him/her, learns to define a relevant research objective, and conducts independently a theoretical study on the topic. The aim is also to prepare the students for doing Master s studies and Master s Thesis research.

CONTENT, ASSESSMENT AND WORKLOAD

Content

    Learning research skills, conducting and writing the Bachelor s Thesis study, presenting the study to the seminar group, and acting as an opponent to another student s presentation. Prior to the beginning of the seminar, students should attend the Turnitin introduction session on rules and regulations for plagiarism. In the Thesis study, the student rehearses argumentative writing. During the seminar sessions, the students discuss and critically evaluate each other s works and provide constructive feedback on ways to improve their research. In addition, the student has to write a Maturity Test on the topic of his/her Thesis, which demonstrates his/her expertise on the subject matter as well as skills in mother tongue (English for non-Finns).
