LEARNING OUTCOMES
- Become familiar with the main concepts of continuum mechanics: material (Lagrange) and spatial (Euler) representations, transition and velocity fields
- Identify the deformation and stress state concepts and their mathematical representations: deformation and deformation tensor, traction and stress tensor
- Express the concepts and mathematical representations of the continuum equilibrium and balance equations: mass conservation, momentum and momentum balances, energy balance
- Apply the basic concepts of constitutive modeling of the continuum and the basic solid-liquid thermomechanical models
- Analyze mathematically the behavior of materials in engineering using the principles of continuum mechanics
