Content

This course focuses on a topical issue in global management. The course's topic will depend on the current global business environment and on the specialty of the corresponding teacher, but the content will always support the overall learning objectives of Global Management (incl. CEMS MIM). The course format will be based on the principle of combining theory with a strong practical emphasis.

The course intends to equip students with a comprehensive grasp of fundamental consulting issues, including:
Core Consulting Skills and Skill Development:
- Identifying essential consulting skills and methods to acquire them. The course will emphasize problem-solving and project management as core skills.
Evolution and mapping of Consulting Industry:
- Understanding the diverse array of consulting firms, their specializations, the value they deliver to clients, and their approaches in working with clients.
- How the services provide by consulting firms have evolved over decades and why
Client Perspective:
- Why do companies seek external consultants' help rather than addressing issues internally?
- When and under what circumstances do companies opt to hire external consultants?
Collaboration with Clients:
- Exploring how consultants provide value to clients and how they divide and collaborate on work with their clients.
Consulting as a career:
- Typically, 1) when and how in his/her career a person chooses to join consulting firm, 2) how he/she develops himself/herself in a consulting firm, and 3) when and how he/she decides to move to a next career
Active discussions among the instructor, guest speakers, and students will serve as the primary mode of learning, emphasizing collaborative engagement over one-way lectures. Therefore, active participation in discussions is pivotal for students to extract the maximum benefit from the course.

- Class participation (36%) : Active discussions among the instructor, guest speakers, and students will be the primary mode of learning, emphasizing collaborative engagement over one-way lectures.
