Please note! Course description is confirmed for two academic years, which means that in general, e.g. Learning outcomes, assessment methods and key content stays unchanged. However, via course syllabus, it is possible to specify or change the course execution in each realization of the course, such as how the contact sessions are organized, assessment methods weighted or materials used.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • Identify basic road and pavement materials and relevant parameters.
  • Explain the concept of pavement environment, moisture, and temperature regimes in pavement structures and their effect, particularly under frost.
  • Assess pavement performance in cold regions by classifying distresses in pavements, identifying their formation mechanisms, and proposing management and remediation.
  • Design a flexible and rigid pavement structure by applying appropriate material, traffic, environment, and other relevant.
  • Discuss and professionally present technical and research topics on road and pavement design and materials.
