Content

In this course, students work on a particular project or idea of their choosing which forms the basis of all the tasks in the course.
This course goes through the stages of generating and developing ideas, exploring points of views, researching, revising, structuring, and co-editing texts.
The course includes elements of formal writing, e.g., formality and cohesion, as well as different academic and professional genres. The main spoken activity develops the student's knowledge and opinions on the project or idea through a formal student-led discussion. As well, a portion of the course allows students to choose between optional modules to create an individualised path for developing their writing and spoken skills for art, design, and architecture.
Throughout the course, students collaborate with their peers through brainstorming, sharing ideas, developing argumentation, critiquing each other's writing, and giving feedback.
