LEARNING OUTCOMES
The student will recall the basic circuit analysis methods DC, AC, transient, and harmonic, as well as popular computational methods for electromagnetic fields. The student will learn the strengths and weaknesses of the methods, and learn to select the appropriate method for a given situation. The student will comprehend what information each method is able to provide and what it does not. The student will identify different sources of error and recognise what characteristics or features of the user input, the computational method and the discretization contribute to the result. Thus the student will be able to qualitatively estimate whether the simulation result is credible or not and whether it is usable in terms of accuracy. At the end of this course the student will know how to use the professional simulation software packages that are used in the course.
