LEARNING OUTCOMES

At the end of the course the student will be able to:

  • Recognize and use basic lighting laws and theories in calculations
  • Distinguish between lighting quantities, their respective units and symbols
  • Recognise the main operational principles of light measuring instruments
  • Operate light measuring instruments effectively
  • Recognize and compare the different type of light sources, their characteristics, performances and operational principles
  • Apply the fundamentals of colorimetry to evaluate lighting installations and light sources
  • Demonstrate the influence of light on vision and visual performance
  • Analyse and differentiate the basic technical aspects of lamps, luminaires and system designing
  • Utilize lighting design software competently
