LEARNING OUTCOMES

The course enables the student to

  1. summarize the principles of different yarn materials and basic knit structures as well as some of their derivates
  2. design a collection of knitted fabrics that incorporates these structures and is based on visual research
  3. document the techniques and materials used in the collection
  4. memorize safe and sustainable working methods in the knitting workshop.

CONTENT, ASSESSMENT AND WORKLOAD

Content

    The course introduces students to the principles of knitted fabrics and basic and some derivate knit structures. Through practical exercises, students explore diverse yarn materials and knit structures using hand-operated knitting machines. The course includes a design assignment: collection of knitted fabrics based on visual research, using the methods learned during the course and involving the systematic documentation of technical data derived from the samples.

    Assignments. 100% active participation in class, of which 20% can be compensated with homework.
