CONTENT, ASSESSMENT AND WORKLOAD

Content

    In this course, we discuss theories and methods of analysis within contemporary aesthetics, visual culture, and digital communication. We take a problem-based approach to investigate, develop, and understand meaning-making and interaction in visual practice, artistic communication, and participation in social media and urban spaces. At the end of the course, students write a research paper in which they plan and evaluate a visual communication intervention in a specific context.

    This course is co-organized with Aalborg University, Denmark. All class session are taught in hybrid, and half of the students participate in the course from Copenhagen. We use Aalto OpenLearning instead of MyCourses. If you are not a student of Nordic Master in Visual Studies and Art Education, please contact teacher in charge for further details.

Assessment Methods and Criteria

    Final essay at the end of the course. The essay will be evaluated by an external evaluator at Aalborg University.
