LEARNING OUTCOMES

After the course, you are able to explain what the key activities of requirements engineering (RE) are. You also learn to select good RE practices for development projects. After the course, you are able to relate RE to other processes. You also learn to combine and apply different RE approaches and good practices when developing software-intensive products and digital services.

Content

  After the course, the student will have a broad understanding of requirements engineering (RE) and its role in system, product and digital service development. The key topics of the course are:

  • the main RE activities and good RE practices
  • discovering customer and user needs
  • customer value creation and customer value evaluation
  • linking RE with long-term planning and development
  • critical and creative thinking in RE
  • sustainability of digital services

Assessment Methods and Criteria

• valid for whole curriculum period:

  Individual and pair assignments, a group assignment and a final review are the learning and evaluation methods of the course.

Workload

• valid for whole curriculum period:

  Study sessions (lectures): 35h, Assignments and individual work: 55h, Group assignment and workshops: 40h.
