Content

This course focuses on fashion in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries and analyzed and interprets dynamics that shape fashion in society. Topics included may be cultural sustainability, digitalization, globalization, the changing understanding of fashion as embodied culture. This course will build and develop ideas that may be used in the BA thesis project. The course consists of lectures, small-group discussions, film viewings, visits and other relevant activities. Lectures will introduce the subject, discussions and small-group work will widen it.
Critical Issues in Fashion is one of the joint compulsory courses for all the students of the Bachelor's programme of Design and Fashion.
Assessment Methods and Criteria

Assignments. 100% active participation in teaching, of which 20% absence can be compensated with additional homework.
