  • About your thesis presentation

    1. Please arrive/login at least 10 min in advance of your presentation time-slot. This allows time to try the connection and to set up your presentation before your time starts.
    2. The total time allocated for each MA thesis presentation is 25 minutes. Within the time slot there is 15 minutes for oral presentation (no extra time will be given) and the remaining 15 minutes is reserved for the examiners and audience.
    3. After your presentation, the examiner/s will present their evaluations. In case they cannot be present, one of the professors will present their evaluation. After that, you will have some time to respond. There may be time for the audience to ask questions at the end.
    4. The programmes will invite the examiners, teachers and students to the thesis presentation. If you wish to invite other people, e.g. your advisor(s), please let them know about the presentation time and also send them the Zoom link.
    5. The programmes will inform you of the final grade as soon as the evaluation committee has made their decision.

About your Oral presentation: Remember that the main deliverable of the master’s thesis work is the written thesis. Please remember that oral resentation is only one of several quality criteria, as clearly reflected in the ARTS MA Thesis Guide. This means that technical issues do not significantly impact grading. We recommend treating the oral presentation as an expansion of the ‘abstract’, rather than a short version of the whole thesis.

Good luck! Please feel free to come and see your peers’ presentations that are held during the presentation week.

    About graduation:

    1. Maturity test - the abstract serves as a maturity test, therefore, no separate exam is needed.
    2. You should check that all your studies are registered in Sisu. According to Aalto rules, your degree can only be 120 credits. It can go a few credits over only if the extra credits are part of a course or required language studies. Contact your programme coordinator, if you have questions about studies or graduation.
    3. Remember to apply for the degree certificate to graduate in Sisu. You can find instructions from your programme’s page in Into (under Graduation).
