      Note: One of you made a relevant remark about terminology. The vector field in these exercises are used as it is used in Strogatz, so I think we'll stick with that to avoid unnecessary confusion. In fluid dynamics the vector field is actually the slope field: velocity vectors at different positions. In 1D the usage of 'vector field' is a bit daft, I agree, but it's useful to 'play by the book', since that's what we are reading.
