Research Assignment 3 Tehtävä
Deadline changed -> Friday 26.3.2021
Simscape assignment
- Powerpoint template available- Instructions (Word)- Mathcad template for analytical calulations (check assignments 2.3 and 2.4)Group output:
- Powerpoint with results
- Phase 7 simulation model
- Mathcad file - analytical solution
- Simscape pump efficiencies (DRAFT file for estimating pump efficiencies) -> not needed as an OUTPUT
New hints (Mathcad template 22.3.2021):
Some remarks:
- How small velocity can you use during lifting ?
- Use the Input Command model in Simulink ->
- The tolerances for lifting are so “tight” that … probably
- 1 m/s is OK for sure
- 0.5 m/s should also be OK
- Slower than that? Check the Command model in Simulink
- Is small cylinder should OK? -> are the pressure losses in the proportional controle valve smaller if you make the cylinder areas small?
- During the controlled valve opening (P control) the valve’s opening is probably not "small" -> most of the lifting the opening should be 10 V?
- This will affect the required pump pressure -> makes it smaller
- After that selection the pump pressure is fixed for lowering also! -> PRV set pressure
- During lowering the target velocity can also be quite small (downwards), the valve during lowering opening is probably not full -10 V, for example -> the P controller will select a smaller opening depending on your target velocity for lowering
- check pP calculation, the calculated pump pressure should be close to PRV set pressure
- -> the calculated pP should be close to fixed pPCP
- the opening during lowering should be closer to -1 V than - 10 V, I think, depends of course on PRV set pressure
- after that check also the pB pressure -> should be over 0
- if you (or P controller) set the valve "very open",
- problem 1: the pump pressures do not match -> he calculated pP is not close to fixed pPCP
- problem 2: the pressure in cylinder chamber B would be too low -> cavitation
- in the actual system the P controller will select proper control voltage
- in Mathcad calculation you must chooce the control voltage, which gives you the correct pump pressure
