  • Week 4: Conditional independence and statistics primer (Chapter 4 and 5)

    Lecture: We will talk about conditional independence ideals in the discrete and Gaussian case. We will define primary decompositions and see on an example how primary decompositions are used to study conditional independence implications. We will go over pretask questions and time permitting talk about parameter estimation and hypothesis testing.

    Exercise session: You have the possibility to discuss in groups anything that remains unsolved on Homework 2 and include the results of the group work in your solutions. Everyone has to write up their own solutions.
