Topic outline

    • Upload your commentaries here by 12:00 on the Wednesday before our weekly session by clicking on 'add a new discussion topic' and writing 'NAME commentary on TEXT AUTHOR' in the subject heading. To you upload a file, go to 'advanced' once you have started the discussion topic, and ensure that your surname is also in the file name.

Everybody can see everybody else's texts, so do feel free to view what others have written. If this makes you nervous, don't worry, you have the whole course during which you can improve your writing and sharpen your thinking. We all develop as we practice!

What to write: Very briefly, note what the text is about and how it approaches the topic.

Give your own reaction – for example your commentary could address:

•Was the argument persuasive? Why/why not?
•How does the argument relate to your previous knowledge/experience? Did it surprise you?
•What alternative approaches or arguments could be made?

In your reactions, consider when and why the text was written. This can help you be generous/constructive.

Do NOT use footnotes except for providing references to the literature.

If you reference, use academic formatting and give sources.

Also see Natalia Villaman's guidance on how to format your commentaries, under 'materials'.

    • Students in BIZ are required to submit a separate piece of work. Note, it should NOT be uploaded here, instructions below.

Write an essay on the title ”Business implications of the issues covered on the Sustainability Politics course”. The essay should be 4 pages long with a line spacing of 1,5. You cannot re-use any of the text that you have written for the Sustainability Politics course, you need to write an entirely new text based on your reflections (and further readings, as you deem necessary).

Return the essay by e-mail to Leena Lankoski (leena.lankoski@aalto.fi). The deadline for the essay is 2.11.2020.

The essay is graded pass/fail. If you have any questions regarding this assignment, please e-mail Leena.
