During the course students write a learning diary. The learning diary consists of weekly reflection on readings, lecture contents, and also your case work progress. The outcome is a complete and finalised document as PDF.

Learning diary (max.12 pages or 5000 words):
      For each week, write:
      - A brief summary of the readings and reflection on selected topics
      - Reflect on the session: What was most interesting?
      - Case work: How is it progressing? Challenges, reflection?

Add short introduction on your motivations and yourself as a sustainable designer. At the end, summarise your learnings for the course as a whole. Reflect and refine the text as a whole, as besides case work it forms the main component of grading.

Hand in here as PDF-file at MyCourses latest on 02.03.

    • icon for activity Idea presentations (Thu 28.1.) Assignment

Upload your team's idea presentation materials here before class!

The format is free (PPT or similar, could be a short video + following short talk) but each team has 5-minute slot, so the presentation needs to be pitch-like. The presentation is followed by 5 minutes of feedback and comments.

In your presentation, briefly discuss your interpretation of the theme and challenge, and ideas that you’d take forward.

    • icon for activity Final presentations (Tue 16.2. & Thu 18.2.) Assignment

Upload your final presentation materials here before presentation day on the final week (morning at latest). The format is free (PPT, video + talk, combination) and each team has a 15-minute slot to use, followed by 15 minutes of feedback.

      Final presentation should cover:

      • Original brief and research, its potential challenges and iteration
      • Initial ideation and its results; potential redirection of work
      • Design process
      • Outcomes
      • Reflection on the process
    • icon for activity Project report Assignment

As a part of the case work, besides presentations you produce a project report as a team. The project report is in a way an expanded version of the final presentation, and could even be based on the same layout, but should probably include more details as a text.

      The project report should cover:

      • Original brief and research, its potential challenges and iteration
      • Initial ideation and its results; potential redirection of work
      • Design process (including possible interactions with stakeholders)
      • Outcomes (could be visualisation of space, draft of a materials package, service blueprint, PSS description, depending on the final orientation)
      • Reflection on your process and outcomes

The format is a PDF slide-set and possible additional materials (video? toolkit or other material prototypes), and although the length is not defined, we would expect it to cover the above aspects in detail rather than few bullet points. For example, it could be some 20-30 pages including plenty of visual materials also.

Refine your report into a finalised whole, as besides presentations it forms the main component of your case grade (which accounts for 50% of the overall grade).

Hand in as PDF-file at MyCourses at the end of the course (21.2.).

    • icon for activity Peer Evaluation Assignment

Please add the following grades (‘contributed more than others’, ‘contributed as much as others’) for all your team members except for yourself. You evaluate your team members only!

Example: Team X has 5 members and member A contributed even more than the rest of the team in making the interviews and presentation so the colleagues credit him/her.

Due date is 21.02.21 and its fine if you just drop me a line with names and grades via e-mail.
