    Course Overview

    Running virtually any business involves complex systems of intertwined actors and processes. In order to effectively create value and make profits, you need to understand the relationships within these systems regardless of your industry and job title. 

    Introduction to Industrial Engineering and Management will give you the tools for thinking, argumentation, and analysis in terms of production economics. Upon completing the course, you will be able to understand and evaluate business-opportunities, design business-processes, analyze the financial state of a business and the profitability of an investment. 

    In addition, throughout the course, you will learn the basic skills of engineering work, such as project planning, organizing, and management.

    Because of the ongoing situation, this instance of the course will be fully remote. Therefore, we are actively modifying the layout of the course for a better online learning experience.     Pre-Lecture Assignments

    Lectures

    Regularly, lectures would be presented physically. This time, however, they will be streamed live on Zoom according to the planned schedule. Lectures will also be recorded and uploaded to MyCourses afterward. In case of deviations, a separate notice will be sent to students.

    Case Studies

    The case studies presented by course assistants will be pre-recorded and published in MyCourses weekly. We will try to arrange a possibility for assistant-led contact teaching related to the course project.

    Project Exercises,


    The course project still heavily relies on student teamwork. We recommend using collaboration tools such as Zoom and Google Docs.

    Online  Accounting Exercises

    No effect.

    Exam

    The final exam and mid-term exams will be arranged as home-exams, to be performed in MyCourses.
