  • Welcome to the Integrated Design Thinking course!

    • UWAS-C0052  Integrated Design Thinking is not offered during the spring of 2022

      ----

The introductory lecture for Integrated Design Thinking course will take place on the 19th of April between 17.15 and 20.00 in room M202 in Väre. Participation in the first contact session is mandatory for taking the course.

During the introduction lecture, we will go through the scope and practical organization of the course, form reading groups and clarify any questions you may have about the course. We will also have a first discussion about design thinking and what it may entail for professionals in different fields.

In preparation for the introduction lecture, you are asked to review the material for the first week and formulate six short statements (one to two sentences) with exemplary quotes about what catches your attention in looking at the articles and videos. The statements should be uploaded in a word document to the pre-assignment folder for the week one before 15.00 on the 19th of April. Please also be ready to share and discuss your statements with the other students in class.

    • The IDT course provides students a conceptual and theoretical foundation to deepen their knowledge about design and the rise of design thinking in innovation. In working through a curated set of readings about design and design thinking, students are introduced to fundamental concepts and ideas about design and designing in the pursuit of helping them adopt more designerly practices in their work; including a heightened understanding about the tools, methods and work processes associated with the work of designers.

The contact teaching for the course is structured around in-class discussions (and workshops) about the readings with preparatory individual and group assignments. The final grade for the course is set in relation to these assignments and the written test that the students complete at the end of the course.

Participation in the first contact session for the course is mandatory.
