  • Orientation (7.-8.9) and first session on Mon 13.9.

    Here you'll find all information you need to know to get our WAT studies started! The sections below give you information on the WAT Orientation Days on Tuesday 7.9. and Wednesday 8.9 and about the practicalities concerning the WAT Course's first, introductory session on Monday 13.9. morning. Read through everything carefully!

      WAT Orientation days

      Your Master's studies begin with Orientation Week, where you learn more about Aalto University and its School of Engineering (AaltoENG) as well as our WAT Master's Programme and related Water and Environmental Engineering Research Group. It is also first time you'll meet your fellow students. 

      Monday, Thursday and Friday of the orientation week include introduction to studying at Aalto University as well as its key services, with joint sessions for all AaltoENG students. Tuesday and Wednesday are then the WAT Orientation Days, where you'll get to know our research programme and your fellow students, and learn more about our Master's Programme and its Personal Portfolio Process. 

      Hence, even if you already know Aalto, you must be present at least on Tuesday 7.9 and Wednesday 8.9! Both days start @Otaniemi Undergraduate Center, in lecture hall U1 (address: Otakaari 1M). See here the maps: campus map and Otakaari 1 map. We start on Tuesday at 9.00 sharp and Wednesday at 13.00 sharp. Please, reserve Wednesday morning for group work.

      There is an opportunity to attend a shorter onine orientation on Tuesday 7.9., if not able to attend  activities at campus. That will take place in Zoom at 14.00-15.30: https://aalto.zoom.us/j/68972975042. (We recommend to use Zoom App instead of your browser.). Remote students will work with their groups during Wednesday morning, and they will have the opportunity to follow our Wednesday session during 13.00-15.30 through the same Zoom link https://aalto.zoom.us/j/68972975042. They will also attend they own group's presentation through Zoom on Wed afternoon.

      (Note for non-WAT-students such as exchange students and students from other Aalto Master's Programmes taking the WAT Course: you don't have to participate in the WAT Orientation Days, but you can come directly to the first session of WAT Course on Mon 13.9. Nordic5Tech students should, however, join also WAT Orientation Days).

    • WAT Course first session on 13.9.2021

      The WAT Course starts with an Introductory Day on Monday 13.9.2021 at 9.00 am @ Otaniemi campus, Otakaari 4, lecture room 215 (campus map).

      During the Introductory Day, the students are divided into the groups (based on WAT mentor groups) and we go through the idea and structure of the course. In addition, we will map your existing expertise related to WAT and discuss about common phases of group work as well as the different roles we tend to take as part of a team.

      Laboratory safety exam for week 6: start well in advance, DL for the exam is already on 26th Sept. Details will be provided in the subpage of Week 6.
