  • Week 1: Course intro&expressing opinions

    Session1& Session2 (S1&S2), Sept 14th: Course introduction & getting acquainted; Expressing opinions
     

    S1 10:00-11:45 & S2 12:30-14:00 in Zoom (Finnish time). A lunch break of 45 minutes in between. The link to our Zoom room:

    The course starts! Welcome to the first sessions. We will briefly go through some general information and then get acquainted. We will try out some online tools, consider good practices for learning remotely, learn about expressing opinions and play a game. We will end the day by starting the preparations for the team presentation assignment (presentations during sessions 3&4 next week and we will already divide you into teams today). You will need to bring your notes from the pre-course task(s) to our first sessions!

    After S1&S2: See the homework tasks posted below! Go through the slides once more and if you have questions, send an email to Heli.

    Please observe: The deadline for posting your own topic idea for the Individual Project is Thu Sept 23rd (wiki in the Week 2 section; Heli will open this after S2). You will then need to have a settled topic by Session 5 at the latest, as after Sept 28th, you will already start to write the first draft of your Funding proposal. It is therefore not advisable to leave the completion of the Independent homework task (posted below) to the last minute as it takes time to brainstorm and come up with viable ideas for topics! First come, first served on the topics...

    Tip: You can consider browsing newspapers, scientific journals & magazines & websites for possible topic ideas that interest you and relate to your own field.
