    1. Yllätys = surprise
    2. Juhlat = party, celebration
    3. Yllätysjuhlat = suprise party
    4. Täyttää kolkyt vuotta = to turn thirty
    5. Järjestää juhlat = organize a party
    6. Kahvilassa = in a café
    7. Juhlapaikka = venue or place for the party
    8. Vuokrata = to rent
    9. Onnistuisko se? = Would that be possible?
    10. Vapaa (partitiivi: vapaata) = available, free
    11. Ruoka = food
    12. Kutsu = invitation

    3. Kuuntele kappale 9 (älä vielä lue!). Katso avainsanalistaa, ja alleviivaa sanat, jotka kuulet. = Listen to chapter 9 (don't look at the text!). Look at the list of key words and underline the words that you hear.

    7. Mitä sun täytyy tehdä aamuisin (=in the mornings, as in every morning), kun heräät?
    8. Mitä sun täytyy tehdä, kun sulla on flunssa?

    B. Kielioppi: Osata, voida ja saada

    • The verbs osata, voida and saada can all be translated to “can” in English. The pictures and sentences on page 155 aim to illustrate the differences between these three verbs. 
    • Work together to come up with an explanation in English: what is the difference between these three verbs? 
    • Look at the “Vertaa lauseita” sentences at the bottom of page 155. What is the grammar rule involved?

    C. Jos teillä on aikaa, if you have the time: 

    • Start working on pages 151–152 together. Lukekaa teksti ääneen. Mitä ymmärrätte? Mitä ette ymmärrä?
