    • WAT Orientation days

Your Master's studies begin with Orientation Week (see here), where you learn more about Aalto University and its School of Engineering (AaltoENG) as well as our WAT Master's Programme and related Water and Environmental Engineering Research Group. It is also first time you'll meet your fellow students.

Monday, Thursday and Friday of the orientation week include introduction to studying at Aalto University as well as its key services, with joint sessions for all AaltoENG students. Tuesday and Wednesday are then reserved for the WAT Orientation Days, where you'll get to know our research programme and your fellow students, and learn more about our Master's Programme and its Personal Portfolio Process.

Hence, even if you have already studied at Aalto, you must be present at least on Tuesday 30.8 and Wednesday 31.8! We start on Tuesday at 9.00 sharp and Wednesday at 10.00 sharp, with Tuesday afternoon reserved for independent work in groups: see more from the programme above.

The instructions for your Group Presentation are available here.

      WAT Orientation slides (updated)

WAT Alumni Survey presentation (check also this Master's Thesis)

WAT Stakeholder Survey presentation (check also the actual report)

(Note for non-WAT-students such as exchange students and students from other Aalto Master's Programmes taking the WAT Course: you are welcome to participate in the WAT Orientation Days, but you can also come directly to the first session of WAT Course on Mon 5.9. Nordic5Tech students should, however, join also WAT Orientation Days)

    • WAT Course first session on Monday 5.9

The WAT Course starts with an introductory first session on Monday 5.9 at 9.00 am.

During the first session, the students are divided into the groups (based on WAT groups) and we go through course practicalities. In addition, we will discuss the common phases of group work as well as the different roles we tend to take as part of a team.

The WAT Course Introductory presentation from first session is available here: read carefully!
The Project Business handbook is available here.

      Laboratory Safety Exam (DL 18.9)

Please note that you need to complete independently Laboratory Safety Exam to be able to participate in the teaching activities at the flume and the laboratory. Start preparing for the exam well in advance, as the DL for completing the exam is already 18.9. Details on the exam are provided on the sub-page below.

    • All students must complete independently Laboratory Safety Exam before the beginning of Week 3: read here how to do the exam.

    • Not available unless: You are a(n) Student
      Group rules Assignment

Submit your group's rules here (weekly chair submits) by Friday as a pdf/doc file.

While this task will not be evaluated and it does not affect course grade, we recommend you put effort on discussing and agreeing on your rules: your group's work builds on open discussion and agreeing on fluent ways of working!
