Topic outline

  • Guest video–lectures by themes

Guest speakers talks help us understand and critically observe diverse design cultures through the lens of the four themes set for this course:  Diasporic solidarities, Liminal spaces, Global flows, and Turning points. Our guest speakers are Harun Kaygan, Giacomo Bottà, Brendan Cormier, Zeina El Maasri, Kimberly Jenkins, Laura Junka-AikioAna Elena Mallet, Mahmoud Keshavarz, Cher Potter, Pekka Tuominen and Zishou Zhou.

Harun Kaygan's talk can be found in the main menu, under Models of Object Study, and others' talks are here below in this section, arranged in four folders according to the course themes. Before watching their video-lectures, get acquinted with their backgrounds and think about how that may inform the work they do.

Take the period between the kick-off on 24 April and the second session on 8 May, to watch the videos – with a non-exhaustive approach. Get a feel of the main issues and questions the speakers raise. What seems most valuable or intriguing to you? What connections can you begin to draw with your interests as a design practitioner?
→ The four required readings are available in course content Resources.
