      Grading of theses

Bachelor theses are graded in two steps. First, the Thesis Advisor proposes a final grade for the thesis in MyCourses according to the official Bachelor thesis assessment rubric (see below). Then, the Thesis Supervisor approves or modifies the grade in MyCourses according to the same official assessment rubric. Please note that unlike most courses, it is only possible to complete a Bachelor thesis once. (i.e., You may not redo a thesis if you are unsatisfied with the grade.) For more information, please see the link below:

      https://www.aalto.fi/en/applications-instructions-and-guidelines/aalto-university-general-regulations-on-teaching-and-studying-in-force-from-1-august-2021

If a student believes that an error has occurred in the grading, they must contact the Thesis Supervisor & Coordinator, preferably in writing, to discuss the matter within 14 days of receiving notification of the grade. If no common ground can be reached on the matter, there is a possibility to appeal the matter. However, making an appeal is not a solution when a student fails to meet the criteria for a better grade. For more information, please see the link below:

Note: The IEEE is arguably the most widely utilised of the Vancouver style guides. However, for more detailed style issues, IEEE points to Chicago Manual of Style for additional support on usage and grammar.
