    Welcome to the lab course!

During this course, the students will take part in six labs in total. Materials, time slots booking for prehearing and lab sessions, and return boxes for lab reports will be available for each lab.

The kick-off lecture (the first and the only lecture) will be on January 13th, where you will get an overview of the course implementation, learning outcomes, and rules. This session will be held online (via Zoom meeting).

    Meeting ID: 668 4723 0420

The lab sessions will be held in normal teaching mode, which requires students' attendance at the campus.

The students will be divided into groups (maximum 4 students/group), and all the group members need to be present for prehearing and lab sessions. The report should be done as a group joint effort.

The course schedule is as follows:

    Sensor Fusion with Kalman Filter

    23.1 - 10.2.2023 (weeks 4-6)

    Microforce Measurement

    13.2 – 3.3.2023 (weeks 7-9)

    Process Plant Automation Systems

    6.3 – 24.3.2023 (weeks 10-12 )

    Manipulation with Industrial Robot

    27.3 – 14.4.2023 (weeks 13-15)

    Control Engineering Lab 1&2

o   Optimal Control of an Inverted Pendulum

Sensor fusion with Kalman filter lab (23.1 - 10-2.2023)

    Instructor: Zainab Saleem

    Microforce Measurement lab (13.2 - 3.3.2023)

In this lab, we will take measurements to determine the material properties of different specimens using an automated instrument.

The students will get to know about instrumentation, programming, and force measurements for the estimation of the modulus of elasticity.

    Instructor: Shahriar Haeri (shahriar.haeri@aalto.fi)

Process plant automation system lab (6.3 – 24.3.2023)

    • Demonstrating the laboratory scale process components, sensors, actuators, and upstream Automation modules are all part of the Aalto water process system.
    • Working knowledge of technologies such as control systems, monitoring, M2M communication protocol, OPC UA, and data collecting.
    Instructors: ilkka.seilonen@aalto.fi, mohammad.azangoo@aalto.fi, jifei.deng@aalto.fi

    Manipulation with Industrial Robot (27.3 -14.3. 2023)

    Instructor: Francesco Verdoja, francesco.verdoja@aalto.fi

    Control Engineering Labs 1 & 2 (17.4 - 12.5.2023)

Moikka! In the Control Engineering Labs, we will be doing the following experiments:

    • Modeling and Control of a DC Motor
    • Modeling and Control of an Inverted Pendulum
    Instructor: Immanuel Williams (immanuel.williams@aalto.fi)
